EyUp! awarded funding to the Trust’s perinatal mental health team to take parents and their children to Brodsworth Hall, Doncaster for a day out.
Parents and children from Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield are supported by the perinatal mental health team. The team specialise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of women affected by moderate to severe mental health problems during and after pregnancy.
The team were kindly given free entry to Brodsworth Hall, with EyUp! funding paying for minibus transport to the remote location.
Angela Hepworth, perinatal peer support worker said “We heard from our service users that they would never have chosen to go to a stately home due to not having transport to get there and being too anxious to go on their own.
“It is fantastic that the team has been able to offer this opportunity which has made the world of difference. Everyone that went thoroughly enjoyed themselves, having benefitted from fresh air and open spaces to relax and explore the hall and gardens.”
Feedback from the trip has been overwhelmingly positive with people commenting;
“My children and I enjoyed exploring the hall and gardens, it was brilliant. We have all learnt a lot, especially my son who has been doing Victorian times in History at school and could see how they lived.”
“It was wonderful to go somewhere different and the help and support from staff was great.”

“My toddler has never been on a trip or in an open space before, we’re usually confined in the house due to my anxiety. It was great to see him running around, sniffing the flowers and touching the grass. Thank you! “
After such a successful trip and chance to enjoy the outdoors, the team are planning to do another trip next summer.
