EyUp! awarded over £200 to Newhaven Ward to improve ward activities for their service users.
Service users wanted activities that would bring people together, while staff were keen to support fine motor skills, communication, and confidence for people of all ages and abilities.
The games are now used daily in communal areas, becoming a popular way for staff and service users to connect, communicate, and build relationships. They are also used during family visits, giving carers and relatives an easy, enjoyable way to spend time together.
Overall, the funding has boosted service user confidence and created more meaningful interactions across the ward.
Feedback from both service users and staff has been highly positive. One service user commented “The games have been a great addition to the ward. I enjoy the bright colours and like how everyone can get involved.”
With another saying “Having a choice of activities on the ward has made such a difference. It’s helped me communicate better with other people and really boosted my confidence.”
Daniel Norton, health care support worker said “The games have been a great addition to the ward. Staff and service users are enjoying them, and we’ll be using them all year round, from charity events to garden parties and family days.
They’ve improved mood, refreshed our activity options and supported communication and fine motor skills for some of our service users.”
