EyUp! awarded £1,000 to the Barnsley physical health and wellbeing team to put towards the cost of taking service users to the European Association for Sport and Social Integration (EASI) cup tournament in Amsterdam, Utrect.
EASI Cup is a European sports tournament designed for people living with a mental illness to come together to share common interests in sports.
The group joined the tournament by playing football and other sports, helping build their confidence, meet new people and learn new skills. During their stay in Ultrect they embraced the culture by going to visit some of the sites of the town including a riverboat cruise along the Waterlijn Amersfoort canal and the central museum and art exhibition.
Hannah Burton, health and wellbeing practitioner, Barnsley physical health and wellbeing team said “Service users were so grateful for the funding which allowed them to attend the tournament at a lower cost to them. The experience and memories from the trip will last a lifetime and the friendships and skills learnt are invaluable.
“We are hoping to raise funds to be able to attend the tournament again in 2025, in Austria.”
