On Wednesday 19 June, EyUp! held its first ever Wellbeing Fair for staff, patients, carers and families at Fieldhead Hospital, Wakefield.

The event offered plenty of free activities for people to get involved in, alongside stalls from Yorkshire Smokefree, the Trust research and development team, a craft stall selling handmade crafts by service users, a tombola, raffle and a bake sale with delicious treats provided by Hofmanns.

The focus of the day was all around wellbeing and taking a moment to reflect, give and connect. Craft sessions by our Trust creative practitioners and Wakefield Recovery College, cyanotype photography, holistic therapy sessions ran by Sharon from Alpha Omega Holistics, a singing session by Jenna Fan, a dance session with Amy from Studio A, Tag Rugby delivered by Wakefield Schools Sports Network and a mindful walking tour and guided meditation by our pastoral care team all contributed to enable people to take a moment for themselves. This was followed by a lovely performance from the Wakefield Community Choir over lunch time.

Throughout the day Canine befrienders were at The Pad to welcome visitors and Sharon from Alpha Omega Holisitcs offered relaxing holistic therapy sessions.

In the afternoon, we were joined by Grow Wakefield who led gardening activities, creative writing by Serendipity, a wildlife club session ran by the Mental Health Museum and a football session by West Riding County Football association.

The day would not have been able to go ahead without the wonderful volunteers from Redrow Homes, HSBC, staff from our integrated change team and Tilbury Douglas who looked after the stalls.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the generous donations from local businesses. Including Hobby Craft for £100 worth of craft items, Tillbury Douglas for their donation of £500, The Grand York Hotel for donating an afternoon tea prize for the raffle and Hoffmans for their delicious cakes and baked goods.

A special thank you to HSBC who match funded the amount our charity raised on the day bringing our total to over £1,600.

The day was a great success, thank you to everyone who came along, took part in the sessions and donated to EyUp! Your incredible generosity and efforts helped us raise money to make a difference to local community, mental health, wellbeing and learning disability services in Wakefield, Barnsley, Calderdale and Kirklees.
