Staff and learners at the Recovery and Wellbeing College in Barnsley are enjoying getting fit with new kit thanks to EyUp! funding.

EyUp! awarded £12,500 to the College to give its gym a lift and buy new equipment, including a recumbent bike, weight bench and rowing machine.

Since the Recovery College opened in 2014, the gym has been well used by learners looking to improve their health and wellbeing.

Now, funding from EyUp! has helped to enhance the gym for both learners and staff, who can access the gym as part of their occupational health return to work package.

As well as being a Recovery College resource, the gym is available to other South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust teams, including the early intervention and single point of access teams.

Lisa Wilding, gym instructor and peer support worker at the Recovery College, said: “We are grateful to EyUp! for the funding. Staff members in the gym provide an excellent service and now the equipment finally matches that.

“We have received positive feedback from our service users and staff, who say they have seen an overall improvement in their physical and mental health, and the new equipment is improving their training.”
