EyUp! awarded one of our learning disability inpatient wards with £275 to buy fishing equipment to take service users on a fishing trip.

Matthew Hartley an occupational therapist took two service users for a day out so they could relax and re-live childhood memories. Unfortunately, no fish were caught but they are hoping to return in the future for another attempt.

The service users really enjoyed themselves and commented “I love fishing, and this is all the stuff we needed”.

“Thank you for this great experience, I’ve enjoyed myself and I hope to be included in the next trip”.

Matthew said “Thank you so much for the funding of this equipment, fishing is very popular with our service users, many having done it growing up and having fond memories. It is a very relaxing environment and gives them a much needed respite from the sometimes high stimulus environment of mental health wards.  It’s a great way to engage with service users therapeutically”.
