EyUp! awarded £200 to Crofton Ward, Fieldhead Hospital to provide activities and crafts for their service users.
Crofton Ward is an older people’s mental health inpatient ward, looking after people with dementia and other mental health needs. Service users have been enjoying group reminiscence sessions delivered on the ward. The activities have provided service users a chance to socialise with other service users while creating wonderful art pieces.
Staff have seen a positive impact on service users wellbeing and have been able to build therapeutic relationships with service users to help them in their recovery.
The sessions have been a huge success and they have received lots of positive feedback. One service user commented “The art and craft sessions have provided a healthy distraction when I was feeling overwhelmed.”
Other service users have said
“The sessions have really helped me manage my anxiety.”
“They have been an opportunity for me to discover a new hobby.”
“It brought back fond childhood memories.”
