Sugarman team with giant cheque after raising £1362 for EyUp!

EyUp! Charity have received a very welcome funding boost thanks to the amazing support of a business in Leeds: Sugarman PLC.

Led by Hasnain Mir, Head of Staffing Solutions at Sugarman Health and Wellbeing, 17 Sugarman colleagues decided to organise their own fundraising for EyUp! Charity.

Sugarman have worked with SWYFT since 2017 – they were looking for a way to add value to their partnership.  They were impressed by the Trust’s dedicated Charity that supports services above and beyond essential NHS funding and so agreed to support EyUp! Charity.

They set themselves the target of raising £1000 and planned a 10k walk around Eccup Reservoir in Leeds for Saturday 18th March.  In the run up to the sponsored walk Sugarman staff organised other fundraising activities including an auction where the winner was bought lunch as well as Paintballing where the losing team made a donation, although generously, they agreed to all chip in!

On the day, a team of 6 complete the walk including Julie Crisp from the SWYFT Bank team.  Undeterred by the rain, they completed the walk and thoroughly enjoyed completing the challenge.  They smashed their target by raising a total of £1362.

Hasnain explained that they opted to raise funds for EyUp! because it supported the Trust they already worked with and they wanted to give back to a charity in the local community. Their commitment to EyUp! Charity also reflects their commitment to the people they know and work with who have been affected by mental health problems.

Colin Hill, an HR lead at the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS foundation Trust, has been instrumental in building the partnership with the Sugarman PLC team.  He commented

“It’s wonderful to see local businesses supporting people in the area, to live well.  The pandemic drove unprecedented demand for services and people continue to struggle with their mental health.  EyUp! Charity is committed to supporting the wellbeing of service users and staff.  We rely on generous partners like Sugarman to help us support the people in the communities we serve.  We look forward to working with them again in the future to help raise money for EyUp! Charity.”

Staff at Sugarman PLC are keen to continue fundraising in the future, and would love to collaborate with the Trust’s staff bank team again to raise more funds together!
