A local Barnsley community group raised over £650 for EyUp! NHS Charity with a fundraising event.
EyUp! NHS Charity supports the work of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, making a difference to mental health, community, wellbeing and learning disability services across Barnsley, Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees.
The event was held on Tuesday 26 November at Dodworth Miners Welfare Club. The local community group ‘Top O’ Doderth Bottom’ along with friends and family gathered for an afternoon filled with bingo, dancing, a raffle with prizes and fabulous entertainment from Richie Brooks.
As a thank you for all the support they have received from the family and friends team at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Dave and Sandra Cherry wanted to give back by organising the fundraiser along with their friend Judy Hollin.
The funds will allow the carers team to provide extra activities and events to support the wellbeing of carers they support, including, crafts sessions, day trips, and a monthly coffee morning.
Kathryn Hines, family and friends practitioner said “The event was wonderful. It was lovely to see so many Barnsley people come together and raise money for a great local charity to help support carers in their local community.
“With these funds we will be able to provide those extra ‘bobby dazzler’ moments including days out and respite for carers and the families supporting people in our NHS mental health services.”
