TransBarnsley run support groups for the transgender and non-binary community and their families in Barnsley, in a safe and secure location. The groups offer a non-judgemental, confidential space for people over the age of 16 to be themselves and connect with others.
As the group is the first of its kind in the area and after a successful first year, TransBarnsley wanted to celebrate.
EyUp! donated £250 to the group to organise an event with food and refreshments for its members. The event was a huge success and was an opportunity for members, partners, and parents to come together to blend and grow from their joint experiences.
Michaela Kenworthy, community supporter at TransBarnsley said “The event was great and encouraged new people to come and talk with people in their community and they have now become regular members. The feedback that we have received has been wonderful and we look forward to being able to do similar events in future”.
