The PATHS service was awarded funding to provide self care and wellbeing packs for women accessing support through its specialist Parent and Infant Separation Pathway.
The packs were designed to promote self care, improve engagement, and strengthen relationships between practitioners and service users. They were distributed to service users accessing PATHS’ fourth pathway, which supports mothers who have experienced parent and infant separation at birth because of childcare proceedings.
Through resources such as colouring activities, beauty products, information leaflets and wellbeing guidance, the packs helped facilitate meaningful conversations about emotional health and wellbeing. Practitioners were able to explore practical self-care strategies with women while providing the resources needed to support and encourage these practices in everyday life.
For many women accessing the service, engaging with support can be particularly difficult. The wellbeing packs provided a practical and meaningful way for practitioners to demonstrate care and compassion, helping women feel valued and supported during a time when they may be experiencing feelings of judgement, criticism, or loss.
Lisa Hadley, West Yorkshire Paths Team Manager said “The wellbeing packs have provided meaningful benefits for both staff and service users. They have been received as a small but powerful act of compassion for individuals navigating distressing or triggering experiences. The gesture helps people feel seen and valued during vulnerable moments.
“Overall, they have proven to be a simple but impactful way of promoting positivity, comfort and emotional support.”
