The perinatal mental health team in Kirklees received over £1,600 of funding from EyUp! to offer yoga sessions to their service users.

These sessions ran weekly over a 10 week period and supported new parents with both physical recovery and mental wellbeing.

Yoga is a gentle form of exercise that is suitable for mums in their perinatal period. It provides a fantastic way to relieve stress, improve mood, and create a sense of calm during what can be a challenging time.

Service users have shared their feedback and experiences, highlighting the positive impact of the sessions.

“I really enjoyed the group, especially how all the movements could include babies. It was a great way to exercise without feeling pressured or judged. Each session was inclusive, and everyone was able to get what they wanted from the experience. I’d love to continue if the sessions were still running.”

“Wow. I feel so thankful for the chance to stop and breathe. The weekly sessions have helped me to get out of the house and keep a routine, which I need for my mental health. The sessions have also helped me with my back and sleep quality. By far the best part of peer support so far! I really hope we can do some more yoga soon, thank you!”

“I just want to say a massive thank you. I have absolutely loved the yoga sessions, and I looked forward to them every week.”

“Rachel has been amazing and is a great yoga teacher. Jade has been an absolute godsend and always helped look after baby during sessions. I have always felt relaxed, grounded and well stretched after the sessions, thank you so much.”

“A great session to make time and space for myself and baby. I always feel more relaxed, holding less tension after each yoga class. Thank you Rachel!”
